Recreational ClassesParent and Me: The Parent and Me program is designed for students eighteen months to three years of age. This program allows parents and children to explore physical activity and development through a variety of fun activities. At this early age it is a critical time in a child’s development of gross motor, sensory motor coordination, self awareness, and confidence. Our instructors will explain and demonstrate to parents the correct way to spot children and what is appropriate for the age group and progressions. Preschool: The Preschool program
is designed for children three through six years of age. Our equipment is sized
down for children this age and we have incorporated fun stations to provide a
more inviting atmosphere. When a child is in a comfortable environment they are
more willing to explore and learn at their own pace. Girls Level 1 (1st grade and up): The developmental part of Wilson’s Gymnastics program focuses on developing a child's fine and gross motor skills, as well as self-confidence. We are emphasizing fun and excitement while the class concentrates on developing a core group of basic skills on all four Olympic events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise) as well as trampolines. The director of the Developmental program coordinates week-to-week activities, the events, and the skills the classes are working on so that they remain fun and progressive for every child. Girls Level 2 (1st grade and up): This class is designed for the gymnast that masters what is being taught in level 1. The expectation for this level for these students is higher, and they will be exposed to more challenging skills. Girls Level 3 (1st grade and up): These classes are designed for girls who have mastered what is being taught in our girls level 1 and level 2 programs. The expectation of this level for these students is higher, and they will be exposed to more challenging skills. The girls will be evaluated throughout the year to guarantee that the girls continue to progress. Cheer Technique (Ages 6 and up): This class is designed for girls and boys who would like to excel in all areas of cheerleading. The cheer technique class offers beginning through advanced levels of jumps, cheers, dance, and motion technique. Fliptastic 1 (1st grade and up): This class is designed for boys and girls who want to concentrate their efforts on the tumbling aspect of gymnastics. This class is great for those who want be a cheerleader or for those just interested in tumbling. This class will emphasize the fundamentals of tumbling: cartwheels and round-offs, with introduction to flip flops along with putting the round-off, flip flops together. Fliptastic 2 (1st grade and up): This class is designed for the tumbler who has
mastered what is being taught in fliptastic 1. At this point, we are putting
the round-off, flip flop together with little or no help. Once mastering the
first flip flop, they start working multiple flip flops, and back tucks. We
